A Thankful Week in Nosara
Thanksgiving Week, featuring the return of the sun and a visit from Baba and Zuzu!
This week, Nosara flexed its muscles and came back to life. The land is green and lush from the November rains, and the surf was pumping all week to make up for lost time. And, oh yeah, flocks of New Yorkers and Los Angelinos made their way into town, giving us our first taste of the high season. But, most important of all, this week brought Baba and Zuzu back to Nosara to spend time with us for Thanksgiving.
Here are some of our favorite moments and memories from the week.
Something We Saw: The Sun!
Baba and Zuzu arrived on Friday afternoon, towards the end of our first full day of sun in the month of November. And the sun kept on shining for virtually their entire stay. We kicked right into gear! As we covered last week, on Saturday we enjoyed our first full beach day in a month. But we didn’t stop there! We squeezed all the juice out of the week, indulging in multiple beach days, surf sessions, yoga classes, fishing trips, outdoor dinners, and more! The sun is back out in Nosara and the town is open for business!

Something We Ate: Thanksgiving Bolognese
As anyone who knows them well can attest, when Baba and Zuzu roll through, good food will be consumed! And this Nosara trip was no exception to the rule. We hit all of our favorite spots. But, of all the fine dining and fresh offerings, the one that hit hardest was our home cooked Thanksgiving feast. We opted to forego turkey this year in favorite of Chef Sam’s Famous Spaghetti Bolognese! Now that we’ve had a taste of the good life, we might never go back to turkey and stuffing!
Something We Did: Saw Baby Turtle Hatchings at Ostional
Back in October, we got to witness a turtle arribada (arrival) at the beach, Ostional. Mama turtles from all over come to the beach to lay their eggs. 45 days later, those same eggs hatched and we got to witness some incredible baby turtles taking their first steps. It was incredible!
Something We’re Grateful For: Wes’s Teachers
As we’ve mentioned in previous newsletters, Wes has really been putting us through the ringer recently. He is toddler-ing hard right now, and as a result, we both have more gray hairs than when we first arrived in Nosara. But his teachers have been so patient, loving and reassuring that Wes is a wonderful, dynamic child and this is all a part of the developmental process. They have also given us a lot of suggestions for how to support Wes, and ourselves, during this time. So big ups to Ms. Cynthia and Ms. Zahira for their ongoing support and guidance while we try to navigate parenting an almost three year old (!) in a foreign country.
Hasta la proxima!
